Our recent delegation to the Israeli American Council (IAC) in Washington, D.C., was a powerful and inspiring experience that demonstrated the breadth of our work at DiploAct. The event provided a platform to share our mission, connect with leaders and organizations, and build meaningful collaborations that will amplify our efforts in Israel advocacy.

Throughout the event, we interacted with countless individuals, from university leaders eager to host DiploAct delegations on their campuses to attendees stopping by our stand to learn more about our initiatives. These conversations reinforced the importance of engaging with diverse communities and spreading awareness about our impactful work. We left the event with new partnerships and exciting opportunities for future collaborations, particularly in the university space, which remains a critical front for advocacy.

A key highlight of the IAC was the involvement of our extraordinary speakers, Jonathan Elkhoury and Luai Ahmed, who shared their unique stories and perspectives. Jonathan, a Lebanese Christian who moved to Israel in 2001 as a refugee, has become a leading voice for Israel on the international stage. His story as a Christian, a minority, an LGBTQ+ community member, and an advocate for coexistence resonated deeply with attendees. Luai, a Yemeni-Swedish journalist and outspoken critic of radical Islam, offered another powerful perspective as an openly gay Zionist. Together, they spoke about their journeys to becoming pro-Israel advocates and the importance of representing minority voices in this space.

Our content creation during the event reflected DiploAct’s innovative approach to advocacy. One standout project was a parody video filmed onsite, which humorously critiqued extremist ideologies like those of Hezbollah and the Houthis comedically represented by Jonathan and Luai since they are both from the countries of these terror groups.

We also had the privilege of interviewing Col. Richard Kemp, a respected authority on morality in warfare. His insights into Israel’s efforts to minimize civilian casualties and adhere to international law offered a profound reminder of the ethical considerations guiding Israel’s defense policies. Col. Kemp’s remarks about Israel’s low ratio of militant to civilian casualties compared to other global conflicts were particularly impactful, shedding light on the lengths Israel goes to in upholding its values.

Our ongoing collaboration with Sharaka took center stage at the event, with joint panels featuring diverse speakers who brought fresh perspectives to the conversations. This partnership continues to grow, reinforcing our shared commitment to fostering peace and understanding across different communities.

Throughout the IAC, we documented the experience in real-time. From videos and Instagram stories featuring our talented influencer, Talia Raab to heartfelt messages from attendees directed to the hostages.

Another highlight was our interviews with Fatema Alharbi and Dalia Ziada, two individuals whose personal journeys from misunderstanding Israel to advocating for peace are a testament to the power of breaking stereotypes. Their stories align with DiploAct’s mission to educate, inspire, and create meaningful change.

The IAC was more than just a conference—it was a testament to the power of storytelling, connection, and action. It reminded us why we do what we do and energized us to keep pushing forward. From the relationships we built to the impactful content we created, our delegation in Washington, D.C., marked a significant milestone in our journey to strengthen global support for Israel and foster a greater understanding of its story.
